As part of celebrations to mark the Nobel Laureate Festival, this year the Alliance Française de St. Lucie, in collaboration with the Travis Weekes Project, will present an excerpt of Oscar Wilde’s “Salome”.
The play originally written in French has been translated into Kwéyòl by veteran dramatist Allan Weekes. This father and son team is well known for their excellent productions of Creole Theatre.
This current project is expected to be exciting not only because it will be performed in French and Kwéyòl but also because it will be used as a stimulus for a discussion on the similarities and differences between the two languages; a discussion which will be chaired by French Cultural Attaché, Monsieur Stephan Dovert.
This exciting event features a combination of French and Kwéyòl speaking actors. The Saint Lucian actors are Richard Ambrose and Tasha “Wendy” Sealy.
Alliance Francaise de Sainte Lucie, The Pyramid, 7.30 p.m.
